Product information & specifications

NOTE: You are purchasing a beta test controller. The hardware and firmware are all functional. The testing is on the user interface for setup and wifi connection by the general public. As a reward for taking part you will be given free lifetime remote access to control your door from anywhere. You will be given my direct cell number for any troubleshooting. All I ask is that when the testing is over you give me a little shout out/promotion online. Thank you!

BE AWARE: Once the 20-25 person order has been met, I will then individually program all the controllers. They will not ship until I have controlled and tested them all together. Im estimating approximately 2-3 weeks for delivery. May be sooner or later.

Shop Hand Wi-Fi Door Controller

Control your shop, garage, or commercial overhead door from your phone with the Shop Hand Wi-Fi Door Controller.

Shop Hand connects to your existing three-button OPEN, CLOSE, and STOP wall-control circuit and allows you to operate the door through the Shop Hand mobile-friendly web app. Your original wall buttons and existing safety devices remain in place.

Designed for three-button door controls

Shop Hand is designed to work with many commercial and agricultural door operators that use separate OPEN, CLOSE, and STOP control circuits.

Typical installation uses:

  • OPEN: common and normally open contact
  • CLOSE: common and normally open contact
  • STOP: common and normally closed contact

The existing STOP circuit must remain wired in series as shown in the installation instructions. Do not bypass the existing STOP button or any original safety device.

Local control is included

No paid subscription is required to operate the door while your phone or tablet is connected to the same local Wi-Fi network as the controller.

Local control includes:

  • OPEN, CLOSE, and STOP controls
  • Door-status monitoring when compatible sensors are connected
  • Controller setup and pairing
  • Device naming and account management
  • Access from phones, tablets, and computers on the local network

Optional Remote Access

A paid Remote Access plan is required to control the door when you are away from the property or connected through cellular data or another internet network.

Remote Access does not replace local control. Local same-Wi-Fi operation continues to work even without a paid plan.

Remote operation depends on controller power, Wi-Fi service, internet availability, cloud-service availability, subscription status, and controller assignment.

Safety features

Depending on the installed configuration, Shop Hand can provide:

  • Long press to-run door controls
  • CLOSE warning delay
  • Audible warning output
  • STOP command control
  • Door-open and door-closed status inputs
  • Movement shutoff at door limits
  • Protection against simultaneous OPEN and CLOSE commands

The original opener safety systems, photo eyes, reversing edges, limit switches, emergency disconnects, and wall controls must remain installed and operational.

Important installation information

Professional installation is recommended.

Before installation:

  • Confirm compatibility with the specific door operator.
  • Disconnect electrical power.
  • Identify the correct OPEN, CLOSE, STOP, and common terminals.
  • Follow the door-opener manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Verify all original safety devices are functioning.

After installation, test OPEN, CLOSE, STOP, door limits, safety reversal, photo eyes, and all other required safety systems before placing the controller into service.

Important safety warning

Powered overhead doors can cause serious injury, death, or property damage.

Always make sure the doorway and the complete travel path are clear before operating the door. Never operate the door when a person, animal, vehicle, equipment, or other obstruction is in or near the opening.

Remote operation may occur when the user cannot see the door. The account owner is responsible for controlling who receives access and ensuring that every authorized user understands the hazards of powered-door operation.

Service limitations and disclaimer

Shop Hand sends electronic commands to the connected door operator but cannot guarantee that the door will move, stop, reverse, or report its position correctly under every condition.

Operation may be interrupted by power loss, weak or failed Wi-Fi, internet outages, router changes, controller faults, opener faults, wiring problems, blocked or failed safety devices, cloud-service interruptions, mobile-device restrictions, or improper installation.

Do not rely on Shop Hand as the only means of emergency stopping, building access, security, fire protection, personnel protection, or equipment protection.

The purchaser, installer, owner, and users are responsible for confirming proper installation, compatibility, safe operation, maintenance, user permissions, and continued operation of all original door safety systems.
